I should create an animation of this but I think I’ll just leave it to the still frame. No one takes a shot in the gut quite the way Mitch does. Starting in THE X-FILES season three with Piper Maru/Apocrypha to this episode, Mitch has had pretty bad luck in terms of facing a bullet. However, he’s recovered quickly. Here’s hoping for Harris.

'Dallas' Harris Ryland played by Mitch Pileggi takes a shot to the gut from his ex-wife Ann (Brenda Strong) in the second season episode Sins of the Father.

Mitch Pileggi as Assistant Director Walter Skinner gets shot in the third season X-FILES episode Piper Maru.

A really cute interview with Mitch I found quite by accident. I was doing a Youtube for something and found this. The interview with someone attached to THE X-FILES co-producer Frank Spotnitz @ BIGLIGHT.COM. The interviewer asks Mitch about his time on THE X-FILES and he tells a really cute story of introducing his daughter Sawyer to THE X-FILES and sharing the experience with her. He also speaks of his work in the CRIMINAL MINDS episode Normal, which he calls some of his best work. Mitch also explains about his past with the show DALLAS back in the day as well as his work as Morrissey and now as Harrison Ryland. I love this guy.

I know there’s been no updates since Mitch’s birthday, but with him officially off SUPERNATURAL and only one project in the pike, there really isn’t much to report. The new project Mitch has done is a made for television movie called Mega Cyclone being produced through the Syfy channel. So far there’s not a lot on the film with the exception of the IMDB page. When I have some news I’ll post. I’m also working on getting the SUPERNATURAL section complete. I have a lot of stills and behind-the-scenes images still to put up plus the video from the last few episodes Mitch was in. Bear with me. I’ve also replaced the animation in the Selected Image in the sidebar. The animation is a totally gratutious frame-by-frame of Mitch from his time as Assistant Director Walter Skinner in E4X22 Zero Sum from his THE X-FILES days. Hope you like it.

According to David Duchovny, there is a new X-FILES film being put together. Duchovny told the French site TV MAG that one is in the preparation stages by Chris Carter and company. There is a script being worked on. Here is what Duchovny had to say:

“It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, who are a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. (The film grossed $20.8 million.) The error comes, in my opinion, from the authors straying too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc.”

My hope is that Mitch’s role will be more than a mere walk on at the end like he had in I Want to Believe or just as a sounding board as he had in Fight the Future. My other hope is that if there is another film, it includes Robert Patrick (Agent John Doggett) and Annabeth Gish (Agent Monica Reyes). They as much as Mitch deserve to be in the next film because like it or not, they were part of the show after Duchovny left. And I liked them. Period!

I just wanted to let you all know that I’m going to be reworking the screencaps in THE X-FILES section of the gallery. I’m not happy with how some of them look, too washed out. The program I used to do the screencaps in there was of a lesser quality than I’m using now and I like the way the ones I’ve done with the new capping device look. They’re a little warmer with a lot more clarity. I’ll let you know as I get them done what’s been changed. So keep coming on back.

Don’t forget Mitch on SUPERNATURAL tonight. Grampa Samuel is back. I’ll have the clip and caps up later tomorrow. The conversion of the clip ususally takes all night to do. Sorry for that. Anyway, happy Mitch watching tonight.
