Sorry these are…well, you know. It seems I’m always saying that. Can’t help it, I’m Canadian. So what did we think of the mid-season finale? Some interesting stuff there between Mama Ryland (Judith Light) and Annie Ewing (Brenda Strong). And that kiss right in clear view of Mama. Okay so she was looking out the window at the time it happened. Still we just know she’s going to go ballistic with Harris over it, or she’s going to go into stealth mode and do her worst there. Either way both Harris and Annie had better watch their collective. I’m also trying to remember the last time Mitch had a kiss with someone. I think it was Amy Gumenick (Mary Campbell) on SUPERNATURAL way back in the fourth season. I do not recall him having any kissing scenes as Caldwell on STARGATE: ATLANTIS or as Darby on SONS OF ANARCHY. Please Cynthia Cidre do not backtrack on this. Give Harris some kind of a heart and write him as more shades of gray…and I’m not talking Christian. Below a picture of the liplock.

Apologies this is so late. I had a doctor’s appointment early Tuesday and was feeling abysmal when I got home so I laid down for a while and ended up falling asleep. Hopefully it’ll never happen again…hardly.

What can be said about this episode except electric. Mitch and Judith Light were on fire. Yeah I know I keep enthusing about this but I’m so loving the dynamic they bring in their roles and I’m more than delighted with the quality of the writing Mitch is receiving. Other than on THE X-FILES, Mitch hasn’t gotten good writing on anything he’s been on since. I was so disappointed with his stint on SUPERNATURAL as Samuel Campbell I cannot say. I’ve just felt no one sees what Mitch is capable of due to his looks. What I’m loving about DALLAS is they don’t see him as a mustache twirling villain. They’re writing him with substance. We’re seeing so many layers with this and Mitch is killing it. Add to that Judith Light and their scenes are just dynamic. I guess I could add SONS OF ANARCHY to that list, but Kurt Sutter never really knew what he was doing with Earnest Darby, i feel. Anyway I was just riveted to my television the whole time Mitch and Judith were on. Loved this shot particularly.

TNT has announced that DALLAS will return January 28, 2013. They’ve moved the show to Mondays at 9:00 PM. Finally no conflict with Mitch’s previous show SUPERNATURAL. I was having problems trying to decide what I was going to watch and which I was going to record. Good. No conflict. We’ll be waiting to see our guy as a newly minted regular. Here’s hoping they don’t keep him as a foil. Mitch deserves better.

Two-Hour Season Premiere: Monday, Jan. 28, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

This January, TNT is going to usher in the New Year with a whole new wave of back-stabbing, plot-scheming, black-mailing fun as the hit drama series Dallas returns for its second season. The exciting drama stars three iconic figures from the original series: Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman. They are joined by the next generation, played by Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo. The series also stars Brenda Strong, Mitch Pileggi and Emma Bell. Produced by Warner Horizon Television, TNT’s Dallas burst onto the scene this past summer with an average of 6.1 million viewers. It currently ranks as basic cable’s #1 new drama for the year-to-date with key adult demos.

Special Programming Note: TNT will build up to the season 2 premiere of Dallas with two days of episodes from the first season on Saturday, Jan. 26, and Sunday, Jan. 27.

My apologies for not having this up yesterday after the show aired, but I had to take my mother to the hospital due to a broken hip and I’ve sort of been there pretty much all day. I have to do my online things when I get home.

Mitch as Harris Ryland is a smarmy bastard isn’t he? I saw one part Hoarce Pinker, one part Azazel/Yellow Eyed Demon, and one part Earnest Darby. His bribe to Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) for her gubernatorial race is so naughty but my gosh our man is delicious. I’m so looking forward to more of Mitch. Bring him on!

Mitch wasn’t on tonight’s premiere of the DALLAS continuation. I’m hoping we get to see him next week. Not much on his character but there is a write up on the TNT website on Ann Ewing (Brenda Strong). I’ve emboldened the parts that concern Mitch. More below the cut.

Ann Ewing

Ann Ewing is the third wife of Bobby Ewing. Introduced by mutual friend Sue Ellen, Bobby was instantly struck by Ann’s quiet strength and beauty. A consummate horse cutter, she fell in love with SouthFork Ranch. They quickly fell in love and married, and the pair settled in to SouthFork and began making it their own. A woman who can work a gun and ride a stallion, Ann fits right into the Ewing lineup of beautiful women who know their way around a ranch. Ann’s first marriage to big-time Texas transportation executive Harris Ryland, who is as sly as he is rich, continues to haunt Ann in her new life. But despite her past, she is a supportive wife to Bobby and has assumed her role as the new matriarch of SouthFork with dignity and grace.

This bodes well for Mitch. I like the description of him, sly as he is rich. I’m hoping the hype is well rewarded. I can’t stand to see Mitch once again underused and under appreciated. His track record in SUPERNATURAL, STARGATE: ATLANTIS, SONS OF ANARCHY and GREY’S ANATOMY are starting to make me think this guy will never get his rightful due. He’s not had a respectful and substantive role since playing Skinner on THE X-FILES. Oh how I long for Chris Carter.
