‘Smallville’ and ‘Supernatural’ postponed: Mid-season premieres pushed back one weekBy Carina Adly MacKenzie

January 27, 2011 5:35 PM ET

That noise you just heard was the anguished cry of fangirls and (and fanboys — sorry, didn’t mean to leave you guys out) en masse. The CW announced on Thursday afternoon that the expected Friday, Jan. 28 mid-season premieres of “Smallville” and “Supernatural” will be postponed for one week to air Friday, Feb. 4 instead.

On Jan. 28, re-runs of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Nikita” will air in the 8 p.m. EST and 9 p.m. EST slots.

We’re sad too. Don’t they know that a week is actually two years in hellatus time?

As to why the network made the change? [Update] Contrary to rumors, it’s not about possible cancellations. The CW hopes that re-airing the “The Vampire Diaries” in a timeslot that doesn’t compete with ratings juggernaut “American Idol” will help to boost total viewership.

The last-minute move is not about testing out “Vampire Diaries” and “Nikita” on Friday nights, so don’t worry — your schedule isn’t going to change. There is no danger that “Smallville” and “Supernatural” will be canceled mid-season or pulled off the schedule before Clark gets his cape and Sam gets his soul.

Ultimately, the decision is about making sure all of the excellent mid-season premieres get seen by as many people as possible.

Next Wednesday, Feb. 2, the network will air “Smallville” and “Supernatural” repeats of “Icarus” and “Appointment in Samarra,” so you can be all caught up for the series’ returns.

We’ll keep you posted as more information surfaces. In the meantime, you can check out a first look clip of Chloe’s return to “Smallville” in “Collateral” and our advance review of “Supernatural’s” return “Like A Virgin.”

We know. That doesn’t make you feel any better at all.

This means that Mitch’s return episode, E6X13 Unforgiven will also be pushed back a week. This means it won’t air until 11 February 2011. All I can say is this sucks. I was so looking foward to seeing Mitch in two weeks, not to mention I was looking forward to seeing the newly Re-Soulled Sammy. Not to forget I was looking foward to seeing Sampa (sortened form of Samuel Grampa) next week. SUPERNATURAL fans just can’t get no love.

I received a spoiler about Mitch’s next SUPERNATURAL episode. It’ll be in E6X13 – Unforgiven. Read below:

“SUPERNATURAL” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)
“Unforgiven” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
Airdate: 04 February 2011

DEAN FINDS OUT ABOUT SAM’S LIFE WHEN HE HUNTED WITH SAMUEL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) starts to have flashbacks to a case he worked on with Samuel (guest star Mitch Pileggi) before he reconnected with Dean (Jensen Ackles). Sam receives a mysterious text with coordinates to a small town, so the brothers decide to investigate. Dean is surprised when the townspeople start telling him some of the things Sam did while he lived there. David Barrett directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin

Sounds good.

Here are the screencaps and clip for Mitch’s most recent episode of SUPERNATURAL, E6X10 Caged Heat. I’m really getting worried about the future of Grampa Samuel. I don’t like that he’s at odds with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki). I really was hoping that Gampy Sam would be on the up-and-up, but I pretty much had the feeling that Samuel’s reasons for working with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) had to do with the possibility of getting Mary (Amy Gumenick) back from the dead. When Samuel went and retrieved that photo of his daughter, I couldn’t help but be in awe of the emotions that Mitch showed in that scene. One can tell Samuel is thinking like a father. However, my one fear is that the writing may have put Samuel into a corner as far as redemption is concerned. How could Dean forgive his grandfather for this kind of betrayal? My only feeling is that Samuel has something up his sleeve…. At least I hope he does. How funny was Castiel (Misha Collins) watching porn?

I’ve clipped and screencapped Mitch’s most recent episode of SUPERNATURAL called Family Matters. I was taken a bit aback by the seeming retro back to Mitch’s film SHOCKER where he played the serial killer Horace Pinker. I’m wondering if the referrence was lost on Mitch or if he got the joke. I’m really sorry for Gampy Sam, as I’m calling him. It seems like he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t with Dean (Jensen Ackles). And it doesn’t look good with this alliance with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard). Seems Dean is even more suspicious of Gampy Sam. Not good.

A little heads up on some more screencaps coming soon. Mitch appeared in another episode of SONS OF ANARCHY as that dastard Darby. Once I have everything done, I’ll post anew with the media.

I just wanted to let you all know that I’m going to be reworking the screencaps in THE X-FILES section of the gallery. I’m not happy with how some of them look, too washed out. The program I used to do the screencaps in there was of a lesser quality than I’m using now and I like the way the ones I’ve done with the new capping device look. They’re a little warmer with a lot more clarity. I’ll let you know as I get them done what’s been changed. So keep coming on back.

Don’t forget Mitch on SUPERNATURAL tonight. Grampa Samuel is back. I’ll have the clip and caps up later tomorrow. The conversion of the clip ususally takes all night to do. Sorry for that. Anyway, happy Mitch watching tonight.
