In the latest issue of TVGuide US, David Duchovny in a Q&A about his returning show Aquarius was asked about the possibility of FOX continuing THE X-FILES, this is what he had to say on it.

You had great ratings success last winter with Fox’s X-Files reboot. Any plans to get back together with creator Chris Carter and costar Gillian Anderson for more?

We are talking about it, and like before, it’s a matter of getting the three principal people in the same room for a significant amount of time to shoot it. Last time, it obviously took nearly 10 years [to get us all together again], so hopefully it won’t take that long. And I think there were too few episodes. Twenty-two is far too many, but six is too few, so we’ve got to figure out something right in between.

Here finally is everything I have from THE X-FILES season ten, six episode run. I have episode screencaps, stills, promotional images from the show, and more to come. I was able to collect a full set of season ten stills in terms of all episodes from each show so what I decided to do instead of just uploading the ones with Mitch, I thought I’d give you all of them. There are several sites out there that have some of the stills, but not all in one place. So I hope you don’t mind that. Overall I have to say I enjoyed each episode. While I know the fandom out there is sort of split on the essence of the season, I didn’t mind it one bit. I thought all episodes, with the exception of the severe lack of Skinner and Mitch, were well in line with the show’s original run. Considering the amount of time they didn’t have, I thought they gave as much as they could considering. The finale with the cliffhanger was typical and I’m betting Chris Carter did it deliberately to force FOX into giving the go-ahead for further seasons. So as I said, I’m not too terribly disappointed with the episodes other than the aforementioned lack of Skinner, but I guess three episodes out of six are pretty much pro-forma for the ratio Mitch was in during the show’s original run. My favourite episode of the season: Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster. How fun was that episode? I loved how the monster in human form had the proclivity to lie about his sex life, bringing in a total sexualized Scully (Gillian Anderson) to emphasize that point. Then the tribute to Kim Manners in the scene between the Were-Monster (Rhys Darby) and Mulder (David Duchovny) in front of the tombstone. Class act there guys. I’m sure Kim Manners would have been tickled that Mulder was having a major character conflict in front of that. Too funny and cute. Thanks guys. Favourite two lines: “Now this is how I like my Mulder” and “No, you’re bat-crap crazy!” Both delivered with excellence by Gillian Anderson.

There is a video available at FOX’s official Youtube channel. Mitch provided the link in a Tweet. Thanks Mitch for the lead. The new footage is toward the end of the video showing both Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) and David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) in their FBI suits and in full G-Man/Woman mode.

I am a happy camper this evening. Just found this.

Pileggi, Davis, Patrick, Gish return for X-Files

Mitch Pileggi and William B.Davis will be back as Skinner and The Cigarette Smoking Man, respectively, in Fox’s “X-Files” sequel series.

Star David Duchovny revealed the new inclusions on David Letterman’s show this week, reiterating that many of the originals from the original show – aside from himself and Gillian Anderson – will reprise their roles for the new six-episode series.

Also expected to reprise their roles from the original run, Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish, who TV Line says have been signed to return as Doggett and Reyes.

“The X-Files” begins filming this Summer in Vancouver.

Well, it’s been confirmed by David Duchovny that Mitch will indeed be returning to the limited series run of the rebooted THE X-FILES. I for one could not be happier. It’ll be nice to see where The Skinman falls in the return and what Mitch will look like. He’d better be Director of the FBI. Just kidding. In any case I’m just just glad we have confirmation. Now my next happy dance will be done when I find out both Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish will be back. And what happened to William….

David Duchovny reveals Walter Skinner, the Smoking Man will return for ‘X-Files’ reboot

As excitement surrounding “The X-Files” return to TV continues to escalate, the show’s star, David Duchovny, revealed some of the other original cast members making a comeback.

“Gillian and I, we’re original,” he told David Letterman Tuesday about the obvious inclusion of him and co-star Gillian Anderson, who played FBI Special Agent Dana Scully throughout the nine seasons of the TV series and in both feature films.

Duchovny, who will reprise his role as Agent Fox Mulder, said, “Mitch Pileggi will come back, and the cigarette-smoking man — if that means anything to anyone — will be coming back.”

For fans, the Smoking Man’s return means a whole lot. The villainous character played by William B. Davis is Agent Mulder’s arch-nemesis, who has multiple aliases, including Cancer Man, CSM or C-Man in addition to the two previously mentioned.

His real name, C.G.B. Spender, was revealed in 1999 during season six, after being exposed to an alien artifact on the hit Fox sci-fi series. But fans continued calling him the Smoking Man since he was always shown chain-smoking Morley’s, a fictional brand of cigarettes.

It may come as a bit of a surprise to fans that Smoking Man’s coming back since he appeared to be killed by a helicopter rocket in the 2002 series finale.

“No one really dies on ‘X-Files,'” the show’s creator Chris Carter previously said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pileggi will return to play his role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Sergei Skinner for the show’s 6-episode event set to begin filming in Vancouver this summer for a 2016 release.

“It’s a strange phenomenon that people still want to see those characters,” Duchovny told Letterman. “But I’m grateful.”
