TNT has announced that DALLAS will return January 28, 2013. They’ve moved the show to Mondays at 9:00 PM. Finally no conflict with Mitch’s previous show SUPERNATURAL. I was having problems trying to decide what I was going to watch and which I was going to record. Good. No conflict. We’ll be waiting to see our guy as a newly minted regular. Here’s hoping they don’t keep him as a foil. Mitch deserves better.

DALLAS

Two-Hour Season Premiere: Monday, Jan. 28, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

This January, TNT is going to usher in the New Year with a whole new wave of back-stabbing, plot-scheming, black-mailing fun as the hit drama series Dallas returns for its second season. The exciting drama stars three iconic figures from the original series: Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman. They are joined by the next generation, played by Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo. The series also stars Brenda Strong, Mitch Pileggi and Emma Bell. Produced by Warner Horizon Television, TNT’s Dallas burst onto the scene this past summer with an average of 6.1 million viewers. It currently ranks as basic cable’s #1 new drama for the year-to-date with key adult demos.

Special Programming Note: TNT will build up to the season 2 premiere of Dallas with two days of episodes from the first season on Saturday, Jan. 26, and Sunday, Jan. 27.

It’s been announced that DALLAS‘s season one will get a DVD release. Details are below:

Dallas – The Ewings are Back In Business: Season 1 DVD for the New 2012 Show!

'Dallas' season one dvd to be released on 12 January 2013. The landmark TV drama continues with a whole new generation, as JR’s (Larry Hagman) and Sue Ellen’s (Linda Gray) son, John Ross (Josh Henderson), locks horns with Bobby’s (Patrick Duffy) adopted son Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe)…proving that in Texas, oil is still thicker than blood. Both families want control of the coveted Southfork family estate. With JR’s cunning guidance, John Ross is determined to drill it, while Christopher – backed by Bobby – searches for alternative fuels, and plans to donate Southfork to a conservatory. It’s a battle without limits, whether it means stealing another man’s money, loyalty, girlfriend or wife…leaving just one question: Whose side are you on?

TNT’s 2012 dramatic re-launch/continuation of the Ewing family’s story comes to DVD on January 8th with Dallas – The Complete 1st Season. Yes, this starts the season-set count all over again from the beginning with a new show, and new cast members…but the same ol’ J.R. and Bobby! Sue Ellen is back, too, but Bobby’s got a new lady he’s looking toward: Ann, played by Jesse Metcalfe’s former Desperate Housewives cast-mate, Brenda Strong.

Other familiar faces in the new show include regular cast members like Jordana Brewster (The Fast and the Furious film franchise, As The World Turns) and Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files, Sons of Anarchy). Plus recurring guests in the form of veteran Dallas cast members Charlene Tilton (“Lucy Ewing”), Steve Kanaly (“Ray Krebbs”), and Ken Kercheval (“Cliff Barnes”)!

The 3-DVD set with the first 10 episodes will cost $39.98 SRP, and includes a nice list of extras outlined immediately below. Amazon isn’t taking pre-orders just yet, but they do have a listing for the title which you can find at the button link further down; just check back with that link to see when the purchasing goes “live” (it should be fairly soon!). Under that is the package art – front and rear – for this title:

  • Oil and Water: A Family Tradition – The drama continues with the new cast joining the original cast to discuss enduring appeal of the Ewings.

A couple of Mitch mentions for our guy.

‘X-Files’ star Mitch Pileggi made ‘Dallas’ series regular

Mitch Pileggi has been promoted to a series regular on Dallas.

The X-Files actor plays Harris Ryland, the scheming ex-husband of Ann Ewing (Brenda Strong), in TNT’s soap revamp.

Pileggi – who appeared in five of the first season’s ten episodes – will become a full-time cast member for season two, Deadline reports.

The 60-year-old actor’s past credits include stints on Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy and Stargate: Atlantis.

A second season of the new Dallas was confirmed by TNT in June, with the first run premiering to nearly 3m viewers on Channel 5 in the UK earlier this week.

The series continues on Wednesdays at 9pm on Channel 5 and will return to US screens in January 2013.

‘Dallas’ Off To Strong Premiere In U.K., Series’ Mitch Pileggi Upped To Regular

The original 1980s Dallas was a big hit overseas. So it is no surprise that the revival also has done well in its premiere. The debut of the Warner Horizon-produced series, which airs on TNT in the U.S., drew 2.934 million viewers on U.K’s Channel 5 last night (5.1 rating/13 share at 9 PM). It ranked as Channel 5’s number one show for the night and as the most watched UK debut of a US series during the 2011/12 season, surpassing previous leader, Channel 4’s Homeland premiere, by 746,000 total viewers.

In other Dallas news, Mitch Pileggi (Sons Of Anarchy), who did an arc on the show’s first season, is being promoted to regular. He plays Brenda Strong’s ex-husband, Harris Ryland, who controls influence over the entire Ewing family. Pileggi is with Pakula/King & Assoc.

A couple of good mentions of Mitch. Of course we already knew all of this, but it’s good to see him getting the press and attention he so rightly deserves.

According to Cynthia Cidre the Executive Producer of DALLAS there were some things left on the cutting room floor of the finale, including another scene with Harris. Here’s what Cidre had to say as well as a hint as to what is going to happen regarding this storyline, specifically, the daughter Ann (Brenda Strong) has is indeed Harris’. This hopefully will provide more for Mitch next season.

TV Guide Magazine: There was a scene shot for the finale with Ann’s ex-husband, Harris Ryland, phoning their daughter, who was kidnapped as a baby, to tell her it was time she met her mother. But you cut that scene out. Why?
Cidre: First of all, it didn’t have a strong enough build-up for what a [powerful] reveal it was, so it felt kind of lame. But way more importantly, I want to reveal that in Season 2. Why give it up at the end of Season 1? So we’ll be going there big time when we return.

TV Guide Magazine: So this girl will be a major character next year and could possibly be a love interest for the boys?
Cidre: Yes. Her name is Emma. And we’re hoping she’s a blonde because for some reason, a lot of people have been confused by [brunettes] Elena and Rebecca.

The daughter’s name is Emma. I would have loved to have seen my girl Tamara Braun play this part, but she just got a long-term gig on the show NECESSARY ROUGHNESS where she’s scheduled to play the little sister of the lead character. Damn, there goes my dream of ever having Mitch and Tamara work together. And Tamara’s a blonde too.
